From Inspection to Repair
The floor gets measured
Elevation readings are taken room by room across the house, inside and at the perimeter, so the actual shape of the floor is on paper before anything is proposed.
You get findings and a written quote
You are shown what was measured, what is causing it and what the options are, including doing nothing yet. Any price is in writing before you decide.
Work is done and the floor rechecked
If repairs go ahead, the house is measured again at the end, the site is cleared and you are told what to expect from the foundation afterwards.
Before the Appointment
Nothing needs preparing beyond clear access. If you can, note when you first saw the crack, whether it has changed and whether it looks different in summer than in winter. That history is genuinely useful and nobody but you has it.
Do not patch cracks right before an inspection. Fresh filler hides the width and direction that tell an inspector what the movement is doing. And do not attempt to jack or shim anything yourself: lifting part of a house without knowing where the loads run can crack walls and break lines under the floor.
